When I put mine on it wasn't seated correctly. I had a large air leak and it leaned out the mixture too much. Spray some starter liquid around the edge of the manifold, pull back the choke and hold it open and see if it starts. If it does you need to re-torque the manifold. Once the tractor gets hot it will run badly again. Re-torque again and it should be ok. Some of the bolts are hard to get at. Try taking the gas tank off first.

i put the starter fluid all around the manifold and it still won't start. i put a little gas in the cylinders and she started right up but died do to no fuel getting to the engine. but there is gas going in the carb since i just replaced the line and tried cleaning some of the carb. so could any one tell me if it is the carb or manifold or something i'm missing.

Try disconecting the fuel line at the carb and see if there is a flow of gas (could you have crimped the fuel line or gotten air in the filter chamber?).

It's hard to think a secondary carb problem came up when you took off the manifold.
