Just thought that I would let you know of a problem I had with a certain Ebayer that I recently purchased from. I bought a B Allis steering wheel for a good price and sent the check to the seller. Week later seller posts with Ebay that I never paid. We've had problems with our post office before (lady at post office stealing money out of envelopes), so I thought that something may have happened to it along the way and quickly called the seller to get it resolved. I said we would wait two more days to see if it comes in and if not I will send another check and cancel the other one. Seller said that if the other check came in he would send it back to me as he does not do bad business. Well it never got to him (or so he said), so I sent another check and was going to cancel the first, but father in law says don't worry about it since it costs $25 to cancel and check was for $30. Might possibly get first one back. Seller sent package, but no check. Now here is where I made my mistake I went ahead and posted good feedback for him, and in return recieved good feedback. Couple days later both checks were deposited same day same time!!!!! After looking up his name on YTMAG I found out others have had problems with him before. Should have researched it before hand. Oh well lessoned learned, but I thought that maybe I could save somebody else trouble in the future. Oh by the way his Ebay name is marty2374 and his name is Marty Prill. He sells quite a bit of AC parts. Just be careful.
Adam

Bought a set of hubs from ol Farty Marty....what a mess! the box was shredded, half the wheel bolts missing,(dropped out the bottom) and a couple of them knocked sideways, requiring me to re-tap them.

deal with Him if you guys want to, but be aware it's a crap shoot....and many times he wont bother to return your feedback.

Someday, I hope to meet that BA$tard!

So what did you find when you opened the box?

I looked at several of his ebay listings yesterday, and either that guy needs a new camera, or he is deliberately taking very poor photos so you can't really see the defects.

Re: Marty2374 - MARTY PRILL of Bad Ax, MI in reply to Sandknob, 12-01-2007 15:31:25
Yep Learned about him the hard way.

Name; Marty Prill from Bad Ax, MI.

I bought a Power Steering pump for a Farmall M from him thru ebay.

It was listed as: "CHAR-LYNN POWER STEERING PUMP", "IN EXCELLANT CONDITION", "READY TO USE", and that he had taken off of a running tractor in the last week.

I sent him a check fot a total amount of $187.50 that included shipping, BUT he failed to insure the package as he said he would.

When I received the item I discovered a pump with a BUSTED housing, and a bent pulley that could not be re-shaped.

I contacted Mr. Prill by e-mail after opening the package, and asked him for a replacement pump, or a full refund.

The reply he sent back cannot be posted here, a business person "HE IS NOT".

I contaced ebay, BUT they did nothing about it.

They seem to only look out for the sellers.

Afterall ebay makes their money from the sellers, not the buyers.

I was asked to pay a fee (I think it was $20.oo)to ebay (of course) if I wanted them to proceed any futher.

As you can tell; "I don't think much of him, or the manner in which he does business".

I have since used "USPS Money Orders" as the ONLY type of payment for items that are sent to me thru the US Mail.

I had a slight problem with this ebay seller but it wasn't directly his fault but the clown he left to load my part. Something seemed fishy, I had spoke to Marty 15 minutes before arriving at the farm but when I got there he was gone and some young kid was there. I had bought a flywheel for a JD 70 on ebay. The kid had a flywheel setting out on the steps and I backed up the van and loaded the flywheel. Something just wasn't right. It took me a minute but I soon realized the flywheel he was giving me had the bolts on the back side, not the front. It was to a long hood A. I made the kid let me into the shop and search thru the piles of parts on pallets till I found the right flywheel. I am not saying Marty is anything less than honest but it seemed wierd that in the 15 minutes it took me to get to the farm, he had left and didn't bother getting the correct flywheel out for me to pickup. I did leave him positive feedback because in the end it all worked out. I have kin folk 5 miles south of him that would have resolved the situation if it came to that.

The absolute safest way to pay for anything purchased on ebay is by credit card, through pay pal. Pay pal keeps track of those transactions, and if you, in any way, are not satisfied with what you bought, or if you never received it, pay pal will refund your money, or you can do a chargeback on your credit card and get the same results. Anyone who sells on ebay, but DOES NOT accept pay pal, should be approached with caution.

Pay pal is no fix all, they have a lot of problems to.They charge extra to use there
service then deny most claims. That's why a lot of sellers don't use paypal.

John,
You are right, I just haven't had time yet. We may have this resolved as the seller told me that it somehow slipped thru and he will be fixing it withing the next couple of days. I will post with the final outcome when it comes thru and when I can get time.
Thanks
Adam

Adam, You need to let everyone know that it appears you have resolved your problem with this guy (based on your post on the AC forum) and make sure you post if and when you get the final resolution.

I would consider it still to be theft and/or mail fraud. Can you contact authorities in his neck of the woods? Also lodging a complaint with E-Bay might make them turf his privledges. Whether it's $30 or $30,000 it's still wrong. Perhaps you can give him a chance to correct it. If he won't then you are in your right to post negative feedback about him. Dave
