It'll pull good on flat ground but on grade she'll quit pulling (trans. completely quits). I've tested the clutch as suggested by Mudcat49 and JohnIH. In high/2 at 1/2 power it strains at first then tries to die, in low/2 at 1/2 power the brakes won't hold it. This brings me back to a hydro problem. Where could it be? Also, on the left side of the steering wheel this tractor has a lever that opperates a hydro. pump below it under the cab. What is it for. There doesn't seem to be any reaction from changing position.

My Idea is that REDFAN is right on with his diagnosis. Pull the hyd. filter tear drop shaped tin under the brake pedal and see what kind of crap is in there. Might need filter and new hytran. $100 bucks. I beleave Redfan is right. Put in the new style TA you will kiss yourself.

That lever on the left is your TA lever, forward for high and back for low. Low is about 25% slower than high. High is driven through a hydraulic clutch and low is driven through a mechanical sprag clutch. I think you'll find the sprag clutch has failed, hence no low, and your MCV pump which supplies hydraulic pressure for high range badly needs rebuilding. Hence slippage in high, under heavy loads. Explains also, why your brakes aren't much good. MCV pump repair is simple once you remove it from the side panel where your TA lever connects to. This will give you high TA power again. To repair sprag clutch, will mean splitting tractor and installing new TA. If you go this way install the new style mechanical diode TA. Regards, Redfan.
