Tractor pulls great on flat ground but will completely stop on grade. I can let it roll back down the grade, and in about 1 minute it will pull again but will quit once on grade again. I think it has to be a hydrolic problem but don't know where to start looking.

Tried your suggestions. In low/2 (1/2 throttle) strained hard and brakes wouldn't hold under all the preasure I could put on them. In high/2 it strained at first then tried to die. This brings me back to my first thought; a hydrolic problem. Where could it be?

Sounds as if the hydraulics are starving for fluid. Have you verified that the levels are good and that the filters are clean? My old Cat 955 will do the same if the fluids get low.

On flat ground put it in high 1 or 2, TA if it's got one in high, lock brakes together throttle about 1/2, hold brakes and let out clutch, iffen it doesm't die or strain then you have a bad clutch.

I agree with Mudcat49's assessment. It sounds like a classic TA or clutch problem. If it only does it in low range it is a bad TA, and if it is in both ranges it is probably the clutch.

Thanks for the information. I'll try it and see what happens. Please excuse my ignorance but TA means?
