My H has been sitting idle for the past 8 months because I had a back operation and have not been able to do much. Last night I put some gas in the tank and she fired right up and sat there idling.
It's amazing that the IH engineers probably never thought that these tractors would still be running 50+ years later.

My Hs at the farm will sit 6 months at a time and usually fire right up. Too bad Mrs. Red's 1996 GMC Jimmy can't run a week without something breaking.

Hey Red I feel your pain. My wife has a 97 Jimmy that we just put a new transmission in in adition to numerous other problems. I've spent $2800 fixing a truck that ain't even paid for yet (by a long shot). I could have bought 2 more tractors for that...

I can't believe you guys are telling this! My daughters 'new' '96 Blazer has a'check engine' light on. What is going on here? At least the 'H' starts and runs fine... Paul+

Hard telling. GM has spent well over $2,500 on this one. We have the 7 year warranty thank goodness.

I'm still driveing a 1986 Silverado 4x4 that I have had since new. It's starting to cost me a little money now.My wife say's that if I didn't spend so much on tractor parts I could be driveing a new truck. Between the kids dental work and gas prices I think I'll be driveing my old truck a long time.Tractor parts comes out of the cookie jar money.My 50 Super C will be a real antique when I get all my parts baught in the year 2025. Hope I last that long.

I guess I am fairly lucky. I have a 92' GMC 1500 SLE extended cab p/u and it only has 244,00 miles on it. It's still running strong. I pull a trailer all over all the time with it. It handles all my tractors well. I pull my H, JD A, Oliver 77, and other small ones all the time. Only thing major I have had to do to it was a new transmission at 180,000 miles, but I don't think that's too bad. It has a 350 in it. In my opinion the best engine ever made. Bill {Antique Acres}

I meant 244,000 not 244,00. Bill {Antique Acres}

350 is a good engine. I had 84,000 miles on my 90 GMC PU when I traded it. It wasn't even using oil. My farm neighbors got 250,000 plus out of two GMC pickups. Neither one had ever had the heads pulled. I currently have a 98 Chevy Silverado pickup and it has run beautifully.

Ya know, I dog cuss GM when I have to have a truck fixed and it costs big $$$....I sometimes forget my '90 PU with 245K on it....On engine #2 but still one heck of a truck, even if it does need some TLC...I could sell some cars and get more tractors or sell some tractors and get more cars...don't know which I'll do...BB
