Im thinking of reversing the crown and pinion on a w 9 and was wondering if this is possible. So u would have 5 gears in reverse and 1 forward. I want to put a loader on backwards. I have a mechanic friend who sais it looks possible, but I dont want to mess with it unless it really is going to work

Greg,

Your biggest problem is going to be finding a reverse tranmission top. After you flip the differential, which is no problem, you have to have a reverse top, which has the gear shift and shifter forks on the opposite side in mirror image to the standard top and forks.

Hi Harold, Would it be that tuff to build a new top? I known mine is 1" plate or 1-1/4" in places and would be difficult to handle. I've never made one either.
Sure sounds like a neat idea tho.
