Giles, a 4366 had a DT-466 IH engine rated at 225 engine HP, 176 Drawbar HP(no PTO test as there was never any provision for a PTO on a 4366). Hope this helps.

Just a quick one SDman. Was the 4386 the same power? Thanks, Redfan.

Redfan, it seems as though there are conflicting specs. for these tractors. My information comes straight out of IH Buyer's Guides from the 70's. The 1976 IH Buyer's Guide specs. a 4366 as having 225 engine HP(Manufacturer's estimate) and 176.0 drawbar HP(officially tested) with a DT-466 engine. The 1981 Buyer's Guide specs. a 4386 as having 230 engine HP(manufacturer's estimate) & 176 drawbar HP(official test) with the DTI-466 engine. I don't have my Nebraska Test Book with me at the moment. Just curious, Redfan, were there many of the Steiger-built IH 4WDs sent "down under"? I'm as IH as anyone, but the 4WDs were not one of IH's better ideas. We had a lot of problems with them back when they were popular here years ago. To be honest with you, I don't miss them much. Have a good one.

Yes John, quite a few sold here in their time. 4166 was notorious for doing drop boxs', 4366 and 4386 were reasonably well received and even now are bought because of their simplicity and cheapness. And of course the 466 donk. 4586 and 4786, well they had the V8 diesel, 'nough said. Regards, Redfan.
