My Dad is looking into buying a Farmall Regular. He already has a 1938 F-20. The question is what's the difference between the two?

Also, he's looking for a distributor cap & rotor button for the F-20. I noticed two different post that made reference to RICE EQUIPTMENT. Both of 'em had different phone numbers. One had 814-227-9200 the other was 814-226-9200. Which one is correct?

Also, if you have any other links for parts please list them. He love to find some places sort of close to GA. LOL

Thanks,
Glenn

I own a 1931 Farmall Regular. One of the differences is the steering gear in the front. The regular has an open gear and the F-20 has a closed gear box for the steering gear. The Regular I believe was the first model tractor McCormack Deering made with the Farmall name on it. They came right after the 10-20 and etc. Where I live they called the Regulars the early 20's. Good luck with the Reg. as they are quite a tractor. Also they are Gray instead of Red. The engine and wheels are red.

The regular is the fore runner to the F20. When it came out, it was simply called the Farmall. When the Farmall F30 came out, the Farmall was called the Regular. It has a different manifold, with the carb higher, and the exhaust exiting on the bottom, with no stack as standard equipment. The regular has a 3 speed trans, the F20 has 4. The regular has open gears for the steering, of the curved rack and pinion type, the F20 has enclosed steering, of the worm and sector style, like the later farmalls. The regular uses the earlier E4a style mag, which requires the impulse to be manually set each time you crank it, or it wont impulse. You can fit the later F20 F4 mag, and get the impulse automaticly. Instead of a dual fuel tank like the F20, the regular has a separate small gas tank behind the fuel tank, near to the operator. All farmalls were painted grey until the 1937 modle year, which started on the fiscal year of september 1936. They had red wheels, but I have never heard of red engines. There is a really good book called the Farmall Regular Photo Archive which I think you would like. It is ISBN number 1-882256-14-X and is available at amazon.com and other places.
