Okay, before anyone calls blasphemy, I apologize! That being said, does anyone have some info on putting on a JD #45 loader on a Farmall H? I bought a sweet little loader the other day from a super nice fella in central Illinois. I was going to put it on my JD 70, replacing the cobbled up, novice welder enhanced, #45 that is on it now.... but then I started thinking about putting it on my H. I'll need the correct mounting brackets, which hopefully someone out there has, but beyond that, does anyone have any experience w/ that combo? Other than the lack of live hydraulics and power steering, are there any other negatives? Give me your opinions, good and bad, please.

sgt. bull,
I have a 1947 B John with a #45 loader and cobb bucket that had been my late father inlaw's. I have thought about putting it on my H so we could restore the B. But I can't stop using it long enough to do that. The #45 I think has been on an H at sometime there's a bracket that someone welded to it thats holes look like they will work on a Farmall. I was told if I did put it on the H to make sure the front rims bolt on and not to use the old clincher style rims. I live about 30 miles east of you. I seen in your past posts that your in the Effingham area. I have about 14 old tractors I've been thinking about thining the herd down.

actually, i'm about 30 miles s. of Effingham... just n. of Kinmundy.... but you're still not too far off. I'm guessing you're somewhere close to Casey. My H has the older clamp rims. Its a 1940. Wonder why you shouldn't put the loader on w/ those kind of rims? Make 'em slip on the hub or break the ears? I'm more just pondering than anything else. I have no real reason to put it on the H. I've got two loaders now, and could restore this one at my leisure, then just swap it for the one on my 70. I s'pose I can pedal the second one. It looks nice, and works well enough, but its got some welds on it and they've always bugged me. Shoot, I used it just today to move a LARGE log, and it didn't phase it. Tooo picky I guess. The one I just bought it set up w/ one way cylinders, and would be a natural for my H w/ its single outlet. I'll proably swap cylinders though, if I put it on my 70, as those are two way and have been rebuilt.
