On the bottom of the tractor, RH side, centered with the hydraulic filter cover and inboard about 6 inches (about halfway between the front and middle tranny drain plugs) I found a piece of wood hammered up into a smooth hole approximately 1/2" diameter. Hytran (well, water, then a Hytran/water mix) came out after I pulled it. Is this hole supposed to be there? Obviously the plug isn't factory, but if the hole is, what do I plug it with? I find no mention of it in either the operator's manual or the I&T manual.

OK. Thanks for all of the help. I'll keep an eye on it and act accordingly.

Don't have T/A. Does the leaking seal scenario still apply?

Yes. The cork was put in by someone who thought it would look better!, or to disguise the fact that it leaked (less likely). Of course the TV recommendation is best. However, If it leaks just tiny amounts now that it is open, and you can live with it , you might do so until it needs a clutch (which it may if the oil contaminates the disk). If the plug was in there for years, the leak may be very tiny, and if so, ignored. JimN

That is a drain hole that is to keep the T/A clutch dry . And if ya have hy tran dripping out of it then the seal behind the T/A flywheel is leaking . To fix your going to have to split the tractor.
