im leaking motor oil what looks like out my front seal of my IHC 806 tractor, like a gallon a day, cant afford the leak any more, whats the best way to put in a seal, or is it a motor over haul, which is costly, for a tractor that has a lot of hours.

Sometimes the front and rear seal will leak because the main bearing are worn. It may pay you to look at your mains.

I agree with Bill, it never hurts to check especially with that valuable of an engine. I'd be checking other things as well. When I say valuable, it's probably the best diesel IH ever built and a proper engine rebuild could cost $10,000. It's not an engine you rebuild in the backyard.

On the other hand it could well be an engine someone has kept too full of oil. Crankcases over the full mark for long periods put a lot of pressure on crank seals. Overfilling a crankcase seems like a hard habit to correct. I guess so many folks get warned when their young, "don't let that oil get low." Problem is the difference between low and full is often one full container. If it's 1/8" to 1/4" over add oil or low on dipstick folks put in the full container anyhow. My point is, there are thousands of crank seals get ruined every year because of too much oil in the crankcase.

I am not sure how the seal goes in, but the radtiator and entire front end of the tractor have to come off in order to get the front pulley off.
