Removed the the head from a stuck F-12. 7th push rod from the front was bent pretty well and the valve was definitely stuck. The pistons freed up with just a little pounding with a wood block and hammer. Cylinders and pistons cleaned up very nice and operate very smoothly. When I rotate the belt pulley by hand to move the pistons, can definitely feel something "rachety" but no sound. What are the most likely culprits? Would it be possible the camshaft and/or cankshaft got bent when the pushrod bent? And that now their respective gears bind and/or are a bit out of alignment?

My F-20"s gears also wine. I plan to change the oil soon. When I do I"ll replace my broke PTO lever. I only use it for fun so I"m not too worried about it. I made a video not too long ago. You can hear it wine in the video.

Youre pretty much spinning everything inside the tranny when you spin the belt pulley, so block the clutch, and then spin the belt pulley and see if you still feel it.

That was a great idea, John. I blocked the clutch, then rotated the pulley. And the noise seems to distinctly be coming from the cross-shaft that holds the pulley.

Thanks!

It could also be comingfrom the PTO drive gear up in front. Thats what is was in my F-12. The bushing in the gear was all worn out, so when the engine was running the gear would wobble around and hit the PTO shaft/gear coupler, making a whole lotta noise.

I wouldnt know where to tell you to go from here, my 14 makes so much noise when its runing its scary. I have found lighter oils, like straight 80 wt help. I know some if not all of the bearings were changed in mine, but its the gears making the noise, and I know they have some wear on them. I just let it ride, its been like that for years now, and still goes.
