(quoted from post at 21:39:24 02/27/08) Start by adjusting the linkage between the governor and carburetor. With engine off, control lever fully forward, carburetor throttle wide open, you should be able to pin the linkage back together without disturbing any other parts.
:D
Thanks, relinking w the throttle all the way forward solved it. I have fast idle, 2/3, and full back now. Lowered the old Ranger belly mower and plowed 5 inches of snow this week with the front of the mower deck. My Gov rod has quite a bit of wiggle to it still so am wondering if there are more worn parts yet? Anybody w a picture of what the early 140s front end is supposed to look like OEM? mine is ser #1105 J. Pa

Pa: The Super A after 1952, all 100, 130 and 140 have the same front end. Now there were 3 options, but they were available for all the tractors I mentioned.

There was a non adjustable front end, adjustable front end and heavy duty front end. The heavy duty front end was standard on Industrials and optional on Farmalls. The non adjustable was part of a package to put a tractor out for less money. They came with cultivators for tobacco, non adjustable front end, no drawbar, and a couple other items I've forgotten.
