Here are what all the holes are for:

The one on the farthest left is the exhaust pipe hole

The two smallest ones on the top are for the grease zerks in the steering joints.

The 2 next to each other are for the OIL pressure gauge and the other for the WATER temperature gauge.

The last two that are on the hood... one for the air cleaner pipe and the other for the starting tank "distillate tank". That tank would hold 1 gallon of gasoline for tractors that start on gasoline and switch to Distillate or Kerosene when they are warmed up. The large 17-1/2 fuel tank filler neck does NOT have a hole in the hood.

Hope this helps.

Andy.

This hood is for a distalate tractor.

You got the exhaust hole, 2 gauge holes, the fuel tank hole, and a gasoline tank hole.

This tractor would have burned kerosene or distalate, and the smaller tank would hold gasoline to start the tractor, before switching to the other fuel when the tractor was warm.

Nice looking hood for only 9.99$ starting bid.

Those two small holes in the very top are for greasing the steering shaft U-joint and support.

Randy: It is a hood for an H that starts on gasoline and runs either on kerosene or distillate. Has an extra hole for the small starting gas tank filler neck. Also, most H's had two holes in the rib for access to grease fittings. Very late H's and Super H's had only one grease fitting access hole in the top rib. I don't know just when that change took place, but I would guess around 1951 or '52. mike

....although I wonder if the 'condition new' in the description pertains to the mold growing on the hood?
