Hi,

Any tips for installing the 2 piece felt rear main seal on a farmall F12?

The ones from rice are long. Do you try to pack them in, or do you trim them?

Any sealer wear the two castings meet?

Thanks

You have to leave the seals at their correct length. Yeah, its a little bit of a pain to get them squeezed in. There is a gasket that goes between the upper and lower halves. It is part #24426-D and available from Rice Equipment. I've found if you tighten the two bolts that pull the two halves together, you will have better luck getting the three bolts that hold the top half to the block to go in easier.

You have to pack them in without cuting them down, otherwise they wont seal near as well.

Never done an F12 but all the ones I've done you pack the whole piece in there or it will leak. Need to be very methodical and persistant. Dave.
