Looking for a starter for a 46/47 Farmall "M", which has been converted to a 12v system. My question is will a starter from a "H" work? How about a "300" or "400". Thanks for your response.

As Rusty indicates, unless yours has been destroyed, use it. If you replace it, make sure the replacement is a 2 bolt, with the correct terminal. JimN

H and M starters will interchange readily. There is no difference. The super H, super M, 300, 400, etc starters do not have the post on top for the starter cable. Instead, those have a little contact button for use with the saddle mounted, rod controlled switch. The original 6 volt starter will work just fine on 12 volts.
