Happy New Year to this great group!

Does this picture show that my 300U has a TA that has had the lever, etc., removed. If so, it will explain my shifting problems.

Thanks from snowy Vermont.

Are you near Rutland?

I ask because I bought a 660 just over the line in NY that had a missing TA handle. When I pulled the TA inspection cover, I found that the planet gears were welded to the carrier.

It may be the way they fix TAs in VT.

I'm about an hour northeast of Rutland - near Barre. The welding sounds like a couple of farmers I know - quick and permanent!

The short lever with the rod going forward to clutch linkage (on side of case behind clutch pedal arm and between starter and battery in picture) is on the end of a shaft that operated the T/A clutch. Yes it had or has a T/A inside. If the T/A clutch is still in there and it and the clutch and release bearing good you can adjust the link between clutch and shaft to help with hard to get out of gear problem, if thats the problem. don't shorten link so much that release bearing contacts t/a clutch pressure plate unless clutch is pushed. If there's no spring to pull the t/a shaft clockwise, add one.

Thanks for the info. I will start out with an adjustment to see if that helps.
