My brother has been looking for Super M for chores for a while.

He found this one listed on ebay:

My brother asked me to check it out and let him know what I thought of it.

First I think that it is over priced, and after looking at all of the pictures the seller has on his listing it appears to be a regular run of the mill M instead of a Super as he claims it to be.

The link to the ebay ad is attached, what do you guys think?

Is it a Super M or not?

The seller will not advise of the casting codes on the bellhousing or other parts.

Thanks & "HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL"

Its an M. Someone put the bellhousing from a Super M on it at some point. The casting for the engine and tranny match pretty close, 47 or 48 I think it was. The guy just didnt want to listen to what I had to say so I told him to stick his tractor straight up his tractor seat! Hes one of those secksual intellectuals my dad always talked about.

Well, Im not going to say the guy was lying about what he was TOLD, but to say some of the things he said to me when I looked at it was just plain uncalled for. He took the word of the seller, as to what the tractor was/is and to him, thats law! He refused to listen to what me and a friend of mine were trying to tell him, said we were just trying to con him out of the money the tractor was worth and to get the hell off of his property. he was all nice and everything until I mentioned the fact it was a M, had the older casting codes, and the improvements to the Super M that this tractor lacked.

John: I once got kicked off a property, in the persuit of bying a tractor, I know how you feel. I just couldn't get it through his skull that a stage II Super H would have disc brakes. He assured me he was selling the tractor for a neighbor's estate and he had known the tractor since new.

I didn't even get to check casting codes, but it was clearly stage II SH front end complete with live hydraulics and a rear end with band brakes and H rear axles and wheels.

If a seller would not provide me with casting codes, that would tell me all I needed to know right then and there - about the tractor as well as the seller. mike

whelp, its got band brakes, a distillate or kerosene hood, and if i'm not mistaken, that oil filter looks like the big one on the older m's. i'm kinda thinking that tag dont go with that tractor.

Yeah that M has been on there for a long time. its a mut tractor the back half is defff of M and front is maybe off a Super M or M, its hard to tell without cast codes and cast numbers. It might be a good working tractor, even though its a mut of a couple of tractors has no effect on its workablity
