Cub Baler Engine ?

I bought a power unit that has a Cub engine. I am wondering if it is a baler engine. It has a right angle drive and flat pulley . There is no drive clutch, and the engine can be hand cranked through the flatbelt pulley or through the radiator casting as on a Cub tractor. It has a fairly large screen grill which is held in place by spring latches allowing easy removal for cleaning, which would make sense for a baler power unit. Does anyone know if this is the configuration used on balers equipped with the Cub Power Unit ? Thanks,John

Yes they did use cub motors on haybalers, several years ago we took one off and put it in a cub.

what you have is not a Cub engine, it's a Continetal Y69A. It looks almost the same

It sounds like the setup for a baler or combine. My 50T Baler has a Cub (C65 I think) but I have seen them with Continentals. If the CRS isn't kicking in, the IH has the carb on the left side and the Continental the right.

John, I am not really familiar with the different set-ups, but I do know that the cub engines were used on balers and pull type combines. The screen would make sense on a combine as well. Dad had one of those units around for as long as I can remember. He adapted it to numerous applications over time. My final application for it was installation in a cub that needed a replacement engine.

These engines are alot more healthy then a regular cub! I just got done with my 52 cub and used alot of parts out of c 60 combine engine which had the flat pully.
