My 50 cub was pulled down 2 years age new rings seals and bearins. Runs great plenty of power real smooth But I am haveing a hard time starting it. She spits and fires but wont hit on all 4 right away and you have to chock the hell out of it tell gas is dripping. But after about 3-4 trys she starts and runs good. Is it the carb? the timing? Should I reajust the valves again? any ideas. oldiron29

You should hold your hand over the throat of the carburetor and see if you have good suction. If there isn't much suction I would do a compression check on all cylinders and compare the readings.
Manifold vacuum and compression are all related. Hal

What kind of weather? What kind of oil? My cub is purty hard to start under 20 degrees. My neighbor don/t even try his cub in cold weather anymore. 12 volt might help and try not to fully close choke. Is this coil or mag? Some cubs have problems with ice in air cleaner. I never have. Thats all I know.

Dave: And I believed for the past 57 years, all Cubs worked that way. At least that is how the new Cub my dad bought, worked until we traded it for the 130.
