Changing trans fluid, 300u

I am about to change the fluid in the trans/rear of my 300U. In the past I have just filled through the plug on top of the trans till it comes out the plug on the side of the trans.

But a short while ago I read on here the PTO fills and is checked separate from the the trans/rear end. That post further states the check plug is on the left side of the pto housing and if a fast hitch one needs to remove top cyl pin and swing the cyl back to get to the plug. Fill through the check plug hole, takes 2 qts.

I can't even find a check plug near the pto. Can someone give me further info on the pto filling separately and how to do it.

Thanks for any help.

If it doesn't have live PTO there won't be a plug. If your pto unit has a vent on top it would be the live and original plug is sunken head type. IT doesn't stick out mutch. If the seals on pto are good the oil would stay in it unless it was drained seperate,if the live pto. If its not live pto it drains and fills with rear end.
