Is there a way to check the hydraulic pump the belly mower lifts great when engine is cold how ever when everything gets hot the lift is very very slow to respond. The touch control leaks a little I plan to rebuild it this winter however just wondering how to tell if you need to rebuild the pump or replace it. (i.e. I don't think you can get new gears just seals) please shed some light on my problem thanks

Fix the unit under the gas tank first, if that doesn't work then that only leaves the pump. Try 30W oil instead of Hytran, I wouldn't go any heavier than that. Before either Touch Control fluid or the later HyTran were available, IH recommended 10W. It could also be something as simple as a plugged screen, drain the block and look at it.

I am running Hytran oil it is light weight which I purchased at the Case International dealership which is about 45 miles away. Is the piston inside the pump?

The pistons are inside the block under the gas tank.

You don't mention what type of oil you're using. I use 30 weight motor oil. I would try a thicker oil maybe even add some 90w gear lube to the motor oil.

The closed type system is tough to diagnose. If it has a remote supply block on the side of the Touch Control module, pressure can be checked there. It is one of three things (all of which can be affected by thinning oil with warm up. Worn pump, Leaking piston bypassing oil, and internal hemorrhage at a gasket Oring or seal. If it leaks down when shut off, I would suspect the piston seal. Try a slightly thicker oil than Hytran/Touch Control in the system to make it workable. Any good brand Hydraulic oil is OK JimN
