The IH book for the Cub states worm gear oil should be used in the steering box. Does any one know what I should use or where I can get this worm gear oil? Thanks

90 or 80w90 gear oil is fine. If it leaks out, fixing it so it dioesn't leak isn't that big a deal. Using grease pretty well guarantees that the upper bushing will never be lubricated.

couple years back, someone mentioned using a "gimmick" type of lubricant in his farmall steering box. it was one of those greases with additives such as teflon like the oil product, marketed under the same name with claims of reducing friction. he said something to the effect that it steered easier. any good grease should work, since none--nearly none will leak like the gear oil can. if you have a level check plug now, wouldnt hurt to replace it with a grease zerk so you can add a stroke once a year for good luck.

Mobile 1 synthetic chassis grease will work well.
JD corn picker head grease is good also. (and they will not leak out!) JimN
