Today I hit someting while plowing with my 560 hooked to a 3 btm fast hitch plow.....
Stopped the tractor dead.....
The last plow tripped a few inches so I beat it back into place....then I noticed that the end of the frame had twisted so the plow point is kicked away from the furrow about 2 to 3 inches at the point....

Anybody encounter this with a plow or try to fix it....
Ive fixed some nasty stuff before....I think its fixable....what do you guys think...( and dont ask why im plowing now lol)

Gas well? Shoot man, if it was once a producing gas well, chances are it now has some natural gas built back up in the reservoir. Man, at today's natural gas prices, I'd think about getting that bad boy back up and running. We've only got landfill natural gas here in NC, but I hear folks up in West Virginia routinely have gas wells on their property for heating their houses and for distilling into something called white gas or some other name for a form compressed natural gas they can run in vehicles.

That busted plow make have put you onto something that makes money!

George...it has spring trips...this one didnt trip very far till it twisted the frame....

I bought this plow this spring at an auction for $250 ....good coulters and wear parts....

I have a press and a forge...I might try to mess with it if I cant find parts...

The frame is good till it comes to the bracket that drops down that holds the spring and mounts the plow and such....theres where it got tweaked...

bad thing is when it got bent I didnt know it....tractor stopped and I lifted out of it went ahead aways till I noticed it wasnt plowing right...in law said there was an old gas well taken out in that area...hate to hit it again ...

Thanks guys

Clefus: Those sprig trip beams should be easy to find. Once you find the parts, every year just before use, you should manually trip the trip beams, clean any rust away. I'd give you the info for manual tripping, except my manual is packed for moving. I know from experience, I broke one at the pivot before the plow was 5 years old. Someone will have the info on manual tripping. I know how to do it just can't describe it without the book.

Clefus: Old plow frames are very hard to straighten, as you must get it perfect and your never sure of that until put it in the ground. Being a fast hitch plow, I tend to look for another like it and build one out of two.

Probably your biggest loss here could be new wear parts you may have installed on those bottoms. Most old plows one finds in the hedge row, wear parts, maybe frogs are worn beyond use. That is the plow you'll be able to buy at the right price. If it's not the exact same model, but 3 bottom and same width of cut, your frogs and mold boards will fit.

I fooled with a bent plow couple years awhile back. In the end two bottom, and I sold it for $300. The customer knew the frame was bent, but saw my frogs, moldboards, shins, points and coulters being well worth his money.

Best bet mighy be to talk to the blacksmiths at an old tractor show. Thoes old smiths can most generaly repair or build most anything you might need. They are usually looking for a challenge.Where are you located so we can help you find a show where the blacksmiths might be. Armand

Depending on the model of plow some beams are still available new. They are usually trash after being bent. Is it a spring trip bottom or old rigid beam plow?

The good news is most can be straightened. The bad news is they usually do not ever run quite right.
