Im about to start on a 140 engine rebuild for a friend. The cylinder/piston kit he got from the machine shop has different style pistons than what came out. They are Red Power part # RP374338R93 and have 2 raised square domes on the tops. Are these hi perf pistons? Or are they a updated stock replacement piston? Any problems with deck/valve clearance here? Just curious, I was looking for a stock rebuild without a bunch of measuring, clearence mods, etc. Looks like the head was milled as well maybe .010 or so. Any help is appreciated

Thanks,

scott#2

I just completed what your starting on my 140,using the exact same part.
The pistons you have are the aftermarket accepted replacement.Im told the original flat tops are still available, however whats wrong with a couple of more horsepower.
For piece of mind you may want to set your head on,start the headbolts, and cycle slowly with a hand crank, slowly drawing your headbolts tight to torque spec, set valves, and cycle with hand crank-I know alot of jim-jackin around but will let you sleep until you are ready to run it
have fun

Once you have the head on and the valves adjusted I would hand crank the engine one complete revolution to make sure valves and pistons clear one another. Hal

Everything should be O.K. There are different types of hi-domes out there but they all work.
