I don't know if you were buying or selling an F-20 air cleaner, but if you need one, my Dad has a air cleaner.

KFB is correct. This was not a scam, it was hearing impaired person trying answer your ad.

Now when you hear "this is a collect call from prison such and such" hang up cause that's a prank call.

Hate to say this, but the man was "deaf" not "death", and was using a relay service to contact you. A deaf person uses either a computer or a video phone to contact an operator at the relay service, and the operator translates typing, in case of a computer, or sign language in the case of a video phone, for the person on the other end of the call.

I see nothing to indicate this was a scam. Its simply a person who's hearing isn't good enough to use a normal phone making a call through the relay service.

I think you owe the man an appology.

Keith

PS...we have a couple of adopted special needs children with hearing problems - I'm very familiar with the relay service.

Unfortunatley this is rapidly becoming a wide scam. There is no screening of the calls, and the operators are required to complete the calls no matter what. Unscrupulous people are taking advantage of this to play on people's sympathies and run many scams. They only way to tell if it is a scam or not is to listen for key words, such as I will pay you extra you can give to my shipper, etc.

Yes, how is saying that he's "death" a scam? The guy was just a lunatic making a prank call. Who would spend $15 to have an operator make the connection other than a lunatic?

OK some stupid idiot said he was "death" but how did he try to scam you? That sounds more like a prank call.
