I have a 1957 Farmall 350 with a 12-volt electrical system on it. It turns over fine, but will not start. It seems to be getting gas and good electrical current to the coil. When towed the coil gets hot. What could be causing the coil to get hot.

The tractor will not start by towing or cranking.
Please help me identify the problem and how to solve it. Thanks Hay Maker

First thing I would do is check the points, clean and regap them. Sounds like the points aren't opening and that will make a coil get warmer then it should. Any coil gets warm but if it gets real hot it can burn out and or even explode, yep explode seen it happen a few times and it sure does make a mess when they do that

I would try a new condensor and even a coil. Pull a plug wire and lay close to the block and crank it to see if you havea spark on that wire. If not you probably need a condensor or coil.
