F-12 fan question

Took apart the fan today to clean and paint. When it came apart I found 2 little brass pieces inside. They're 3/8"x1/4"x1/32" thick, and have a little slot in them. I don't see them in the parts diagram, and I don't see where they could even go. It looks like they were just floating around in there cause of the marks on them. They are not part of the bushing, it's not broke.

Were they shims or something, or should I not worry about them? Anyone have any ideas what it could be? Doug N

They are not part of the thrust washer either. Doug N

It's been a few years since I have taken one of these apart but I think the thrust washer has ears that keep it from rotating. Those pieces look like they could have broken off the thrust washer.

Ed, You could be right, I didn't think that's what they were, The thrust washer does have tabs on it, but when I looked at it closer just now, it does look like it could be broke off. Thanks, Doug N
