Cannot get the housing to seal up on my Ms thermostate. No matter thermo in or out, with gasket in no seal. Keeps on leaking on the front side of the housing near radiator. Seems the two bolts cannot put enough pressure equally around the housing. It did not leak prior to removing it. Is their a sealer that would work better than the gasket? Any ideas would help. Thanks

I took mine along with my manifold to an engine shop where they faced both surfaces of the lower thermostat housing half. Not sure yet if it's sealed because I am still in the restoration process and haven't refilled the coolant yet.

Silicone. Make sure your gasket surfaces are perfectly clean and dry. Coat the gasket with silicone, install, tighten bolts evenly, and walk away from it for a few hours. Then pour the coolant in. Thermostat housings that are only held down by two bolts like that are impossible to seal without some type of sealant.

check the housing for cracks, then set the gasket surface area of the housing on a piece of glass and make sure it is straight and flat. it may be warped a little, if so, lay a sheet of fine emery paper on the glass and sand the area smooth. you can try silicone rtv sealant along with the gasket, or i think, permatex 1 the hardening one.

Glennster, I was thinking the same, also could it be leaking around the bolts, usta always dope up the bolts so it wouldn't leak there(shouldn't if the gasket is rightI suppose)

if i have bolts that go into the water jacket, i like the tfe teflon paste pipe thread compound. it gives a good seal, and you can get the bolt back out if you ever need to dis assemble it. wonder maybe if the sealing surface on the block is corroded a litte too, that may also cause it to leak.
