I was at the Eagle Bend pull this weekend and saw lots of 1066's. Why are they so popular for pulling?

Because there's thousands of them out there, they can be bought cheap, engine parts readily avalible and are reasonably priced, and you can build a real hot rod with factory parts.

The 1066 has a 414 engine in it which is the same block as the 436 and 466. With a different crank, rods, and pistons you can bump your 414 up to a 466. The 1066 is also a little lighter than a 1466 which has the 436 in it. It would be hard to tell if the 414 has been "toyed" with or not so you could get by with the extra cubes unless somebody protested and they made you drop the pan to inspect it from the bottom end.
