If it has no handle it may have the elinination kit in it already. These are usually removed when the kit is put in. My 450 slipped to when I first got it to running. I cured it with a linkage adjustment. Is the linkage for the handle missing as well?

The TA can not be adjusted without that handle. It will not work without that handle. So I sussest you get a handle. I may have one. I will look to see. Email me if you are interested in one. I don't know how much the elimination kit cost, but TA's are a little high. I would do as the vet suggested and see about one of the newer style TA's. I assume it will be the same amount of trouble for each one. However there may not be much wrong with what you have. Are you sure the clutch is slipping or the roller and ramp set up in the unit? Parts are available for them and with the book, you can fix it yourself. They are not as bad as some think. But if you keep the TA you will need that handle.

If you are going thru the trouble of spliting the tractor and for a few more buck ya can fix it wright and keep the T/A and have something that means more on the resale of the tractor . And with the new spragless T/A's of today this is a no brainer .

I rebuild the mechanical and hydraullic t/a's and have never heard of a spragless mechanical t/a. If you have any more info about the spragless mechanical t/a, please send me an email or reply. Thanks

Vet, that is exactly my opinion on the matter. Why not just fix the TA. Seems like about the same trouble to me. Then again I ain't to bright.

Yes there is a TA elimination kit. I have a 450 that has one in it. I also have a 400 that has a bad TA in it and I just use it in direct drive and it works fine. I really don't know why you would need the eliminator.
