I need to replace the carburetor on my 1944 farmall h. The casting is damaged on my current one. I see 2 carbs listed for this tractor but I don't know which one I have. I removed the carb and there are no tags on it for identification, if that what it originally had. I kind of assume one was for distill and one for gas and I'm pretty sure this is for gas as that's what I've always run in it. That's all I know. I inherited the tractor but don't know much about it. Can one of you folks help an ignorant farmall owner? Any help on figuring out which one I need will be greatly appreciated.
Can someone supply part numbers?

Thank you

Ron

a 41 H should have a distillate carb.

Sorry I said a 41, I meant a 1944.

There is a small brass tag right on top of the carb. where the throttle bolts to the carb. The numbers are 45108 for Dist, and 50981 for gas. Have rebuilt for $170 plus shipping if your interested. Thanks Brent

The kerosene/ distillate carb is part number 45108DB.

The gasoline only carb part number is 50981DA.

Since I am sure you will be running the tractor on gasoline, you want the 50981.

You can get the part numbers from a parts search on www.case-ih.com. Since it is a 1944 is probably is a distillate/kerosene carb, but that is not etched in stone. Visually the kero/dist has a drain cock, and the gas one a plug. There is little difference in the carbs, but my choice would be gas, since that's the common fuel. A kero/dist one will do fine on gas, also.

Just an FYI, I purchased a rebuilt carb from Brent Weaver and installed it over the weekend. Gas poured out of it when I turn the gas on. I had to remove the carb and adjust the float properly. Obviously it wasn"t checked as I would have expected from a rebuilt part.
