Help, I split 1086 to replace TA and need to know trick how to reassemble speed transmission to rearend. The long PTO shaft has to engage last gear deep in rearend, but that gear doesn't stay in place to put shaft in. Even with a loose PTO shaft out of transmission I can't wiggle it enough to slide it in rearend, let alone attached to front of tractor. Any hints?

Ah , this falls under the Heading of Don't try this at home Children leave this to the Trained Pro's , I just stick the gear up the hole and push the tractor together with a littel wiggel here and a shake there and it slides together.

Which cover do you take off to push gear up? Thanks for the help.
