My Lower pulley has no flanges, and I understand this is how they were made for the wide belt, but the belt does not want to seem to center itself on the pulley, but migrate off during rotation. How is this supposed to work??

Check the alignment of the upper pulley. Was having problems with mine, turned out that the pivot point on the support for the fan pulley was worn & holding the pulley at a little bit of an angle. Added some shims to bring the arm back up to where it belongs, no more problems.

The pulleys may look flat but they are actually a little bigger in the middle. The belt will walk toward the larger diameter. Equal force from both sides of the belt keeps it runnig centered.

If your belt walks off the pulley make sure that the crank and fan pulleys are parallel. Also check the belt. One side must not be longer than the other or it will come off even if the pulleys are ok.
