I have a 1949 Farmall C, The hydo resivoir is empty. The book calls for IH Hydro only. Of course there is no dealer nearby. I have asked the local parts house and have gotten 20 different answers. Could anyone tell me what kind or what specs oil I need? Thanks

For a Super A or a C, which were actually designed for SAE 10W, before touch control fluid, now called HyTran, was marketed, darn near anything except 20 or 30W and gear oil -- but buy something that meets HyTran specs, to be safe.

Hytran fluid is the specification. Any quality brand of Hydraulic Transmission oil will fill the need. Mobile, Exxon, Shell, Kendall, (even Deere Hydro oil) is fine. Avoid cheap Box store oil or discount parts combination oil. These are lacking in the protection needed. JimN
