looked in numbers search but cant find anything on eng numbers, the engine i have is number 387716r1, the head is a 706 by number in ulav-tlib book, hate to tear off head as good running engine. dont know if i have a 263 or 291 or 301. any help, save me buying gasket set etc. maybe a combine eng

BAD KEYBOARD, CHANGED, OK NOW, PULLED HEAD AND HAS 30 OVER IN IT, NO SLEEVES SO I;M HAPPY ITS A 301, THANKS FOR HELP. BORE IS ALMOST 3 7/8.

It should be stamped on the left side of the block what cid it is.If it is a 301 its stamped on the right side up top front of the block.

Look up the parts for the 706 or virtually anything else in the online catalogs on www.caseih.com. If there was a serial break (I doubt it) it will be listed. And if there are serial breaks they are "usually" chassis serials, not engine serials.

That appears to be a casting number, someone may be able to identify the engine. Look under No1 sparkplug for a flat spot that may have a SN. Hal
