I am a 17 year-old Iowa farm boy. I bought my neighbor's 1940 H, and it needs the cast "manifold" that bolts to the hydraulic pump. This manifold is the piece that the pipes screw into for getting hyd oil out through the side of the tractor.
Thank you, Tom

Don't know fellows, he may be refering to the casting that bolts to rear on rear plate of tank and has two 1/2 inch pipe thread openings. Its bolted to same plate pump is on inside but the manifold is bolted to other outside of plate.

You're correct, I just braved the cold and went to the shop to look. The manifold is a seperate piece that bolts on.

I have had the pump out. The manifold is a separate piece that bolts on towards the top of the pump, is held on with 3(I think--maybe 4) 3/8 inch bolts. One bolt bolts on from the outside, and the others bolt on from the inside. Two half-inch pipes screw on going out to the left side of the tractor, one pipe screws in on the other side. Mine had bad pipe threads that we have tried to fix, and a crack in the casting as well. The pump otherwise builds up pressure just fine, but this manifold--unavailable from IH, is my problem. Central Iowa just N of Ames.

OK, I am down here in the S.W. corner of the state. Taylor county. I think you should be able to find the part you need a little bit closer to you, but if you can't, just send an e-mail.

Case-IH parts guy gave me an exploded picture. It is called a back plate manifold, part # 5016EA. By your post I am assuming you have this part you would sell? I'll let you know if something doesn't show up locally. I'd gladly pay to UPS it here. Thanks, Tom

Yes, I have one. I think it is OK, but it has so much caked on grease and crud that I can't really tell. If it warms up a bit in a day or so, I will clean it up and see if I can get it apart.

I agree with Rusty, The pump is a large casting with integrated components, that comes out of the bottom of the tractor. If it is cracked, a new/used pump may be needed. If it is just a pipe fitting, as Jed suggests yu are in luck. Manuals and parts books are available on this site. JimN

Have you crawled under the tractor and had a look up into the housing? I am thinking that the "manifold" you refer to is an integral part of the pump itself. If yours is missing, either something is broken or you are missing the entire pump.

Tom, That is simply a 1/2" pipe thread. You can get a nipple, elbow and plug at Lowes.
