i think you mean polorize the generator. Jumper wire from Batt term on the regulator or cut-out which ever you have to the ARM term on the generator. Momentary touch the two term and should see a spark.

I often get a lil excited when working on electrical stuff !!!!! !

Im like Old, not sure what you mean exactly??

You could provide the necessary voltage n current to a distributor so its contact points will switch the coils primary current so the coil fires !!! Thats typically by attaching a wire from the coils low (NOT from ignition switch/ballast) output terminal to the lil side distributor terminal which wires to the points..... .

You could "excite" the windings on an alternator by feeding hot battery voltage to the lil side No 1R terminal if it were a GM 10 SI family of internally regulated alternators (Dont forget they use Negative ground).....

You "Polarize" a DC generator so it starts charging in the correct polarity..... ..

In old tractor terms the word "excite" is most often used to describe excitation of the alternator buttttt t what are you trying to do exactly????? ????? ?

Never heard of that one. You excite and alterntor to make it charge but not a distubutor.

I think it's something like 'turning on/off' a key.
