Never paid close attention to the title before, but look carefully and you will see it is wrong.
Farmall is a subset of a line of models of IHC tractors, not a make of tractor on its own. Many posts here indicate that posters don"t know that Farmall is only appropriate to SOME of the IHC tractors, granted it"s a large portion on IHC, but still not all of them! I grew up on a ND farm where there were 5 IHC tractors over the years and only 1 was a Farmall. (22-36, W-30, 10-20, M, WD-9)

By the way Farmall is a regestered trademark just like Chevrolet,Pontiac,Oldsmoble and so on and so on. Happy New Year!

You are right the tractors you mentioned are McCormick Deering or McCormick tractors made by IHC

After reading these responses, I stick by my original post. I have seen more than once here where people will call a WD-9 or a W-6 or a W-4 a Farmall, but they are not Farmalls.

I think the train jumped off the track here.Like what was the real question? Like what is the connection between Waterloo Boy and JD? Cat and Holt? McCormick-Deering IH? Massey-Harris and Ferguson? How about Daimler and Chrysler. On and on I call it nitpicking. Blah Blah! Get over it soon it will be Xinh IOU from China if we don't take care of business here at home!CT

The site title says Farmall AND IHC, that covers all of them. There were more Farmalls built than any other IH tractor. I will agree that the Farmall/McCormick Deering/McCormick/International confuses a lot of people, particularly when IH's main competitor was simply, John Deere. But, there is nothing wrong with calling Farmall a make of tractor, just as Chevrolet is a make of car, but also is only a part of a larger corporation.

You may be right...

Now why do they lump MH with MF when the MF's are much more similar to the Fergies than the MH's? These, sir, are mysteries of the beyond...

Too deep for the likes of us layfolk.

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

Ferguson bought Massey Harris, or perhaps it was a true merger, I don't remember (I think it was an actual buyout) and the company became Massey Ferguson. I do not remember the early years, or how long the Massey tractors were in production after the merger. But eventually the Massey part of it disappeared, except for the color.

when the two merged it was Massey-Harris-Ferguson for a short period then the Harris was dropped giving us the current Massey Ferguson.

Then what you are saying is that I've got a NON-tractor in my yard right now ? Just like that 75 Chevy in the yard isn't really a make ( which in my eyes at least is synonomous with brand ) ? General Motors makes Chevy but if I'm not mistaken Chevy is a make or brand just like Farmall . So only GMC is really a truck ? I'm SOOO confused !!! ...Randy
