I have a Case model 65 loader installed on my International 784.. while plowing snow today, the front loader lost power and will not raise, tip,or grapple... the 3 pt. blade still raises. Any ideas?

Colleen, how is the hydraulics for the loader connected to the 784 hydraulic system? Some people take the easy method and connect into the remote outlets at the back of the seat. If that is how your hydraulics for the loader are connected then the remote control lever must be held open in one direction to cause oil to flow to the loader control valves.

Hi, the 54,74,84,85,95,4000 series have one hydrolic pump. On the 84 serie, the flow is about 15 gpm, 12 gpm for the hydrolic system and 3 gpm for the steering. The steering circuit have a flow-divider valve to allow 3 gpm to the steering system. Check if the pressure is high on the remote by pulling on the remote lever, you can ear the relief valve open. Does the steering work ok? May be a bad relief valve, the flow-divider is stuck half in the hole or a bad pump. The best is to make a pressure test by the remote outlets with a pressure gage, about 2250 to 2500 psi at 1500 rpm. Bernard le mécano Québec Canada

The first thing to do is make sure that the hoses are still plugged into the outlets. Even if they appear OK, pull them out and then plug them back in again.

Sound like your control valve is stuck, I am not sure if you have an external control valve or if you use valves on tractor, if external verify that you have oil going to the valve by cracking a line.

I have an external control block..How do I crack a line? We have had temps in the single digits lately... could things have frozen up?

"Crack a line" is a slang term for loosening one of the connections to see if hydraulic oil is present in the line. This is VERY dangerous to do with the hydraulic system under pressure.

Hydraulic oil freezes at several hundred degrees below zero. No, it could not have frozen up unless there is a lot of water in the hydraulic oil, and then it wouldn't have frozen up in the middle of a job.

The most likely cause of your problem is a bad hydraulic pump. They usually get weaker and weaker over time, but it's not unheard of to have the pump simply quit altogether.

I am pretty sure that the power steering and 3pt hitch are controlled by a separate hydraulic pump on that tractor.

The best thing you can do right now is hire a professional mechanic to come over and check your hydraulic system for pressure, and have it "flow rated." Otherwise, you are just guessing.
