I was looking through my pictures from a tractor show in PA last summer, and It got me thinking. Generally I'm loyal to JD in regards to farm tractors, but I am in the market for something to play with. I saw a tractor at a show last summer that was discribed as a super MTAD. This leads to my question, are these tractors incredibly hard to find?, or can one still be found in resorable shape? I think the tractor I saw was one of the most beutiful tractors I've ever seen. If they can still be found what are they worth? I would be fixing it up to pull "fairly stock", but am conserned about all the bad news I've heard about the TA. Are Parts still available? You all fill me in if you can about my Questions, and if you know of a good book to read regarding this tractor, please let me know. I'd better get off this page now, I 'm feeling guilty , like I'm cheating on my 4020. Just kidding, thanks for all your help, Greg H.

Greg,
At 2,705 units produced, it's a pretty rare tractor. Since they used the same C-264 Diesel as the Super MD, the only major difference is the TA which parts are still available for. The TA's are expensive, however. If you find one you will undoubtedly have to rebuild the TA and probably have to try to find a head as these were the two weak points. Some cracked heads might be repairable but I wouldn't count on it. IH-s start on gas/switch to diesel engines used a very complicated head design and that makes them hard to repair if cracked.

Good luck,
Phil
