706 lights stay on

On my 706 the lights wouldnt work so I ran a seperate wire from the switch to the batt . now when the switch is off and the key is off the oil and amp light stays on .now what?

Your light switch is back feeding the ignition switch.
Disconnect the wire that was originally connected to the light sw from the ignition switch and that should do it. JimN
