I may not be in the right spot but the color is right. Buddy of mine is having problems getting fuel to the injection pump. Does this tractor have a electric fuel pump in the tank to supply fuel to the injection pump? I worked at a case ih dealer but was long gone when this tractor came about so I am somewhat at a loss. Thanks for any advice.

I have a 5230 Maxxum and I have had the same problem. The problem was the rubber hoses between the transfer pump on the engine to the steel lines that run behind the tank, also there are also short rubber lines were they go into the top of the tank. They were soft and allowed air to be sucked in. You can cut them off and replace them with fuel line. If these lines are in good shape then it could be the transfer pump on the side of the engine. It is a cam driven pump like the older automotive ones on cars that supplies fuel to the injector pump. There is no electric pump in the fuel tank.

Did you have to drop the tank?? Did you replace the return lines also? Thanks for the reply. Starting to get cold in ky and my budy is a 300# baby if he has to ride the 1066 with no cab!!

I didn't remove the tank completelly but I did remove the cab steps and the front carrier bracket. That allowed me to drop the tank some and pull it out enough to slide the lines in and out. You can reuse the steel lines as the rubber lines are just crimped on with a collar and the steel lines are barbed. You just grip the collar with a pliers and work them off and replace with common fuel hose and hose clamps. Only trouble with not removing the tank is you cannot get to the lines on top of the fuel tank to unhook them. I removed my seat as it need a roller kit anyways and removed the plate on the cab floor. That allowed easy access to the top clamps on the tank. I replaced all the rubber lines, supply and return as I didn't want to tear it apart in a few years again. I guess if your seat is in good condition I would just drop the tank but it will have to be empty and you will need a helper because its hard to handle. Also if your wheels are set for 30 inch rows you might have to slide a wheel out. Mine is set for 38 inch rows and it was tight just to drop it a few inches and pull it out so I could replace the front hoses. If you buy the lines from CNH they will run $60 each so just replacing the hose will save you a bunch and will be just as good as installing new lines.
