My M's motor surges up and down past half throttle but runs great on the low idle. Have checked and re checked our governor and the carb is adjusted right. Could the governor be worn. PLEASE HELP!!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !!!!!

also make sure the inline filter's flow resistance is not too much. pretty sure thats gravity feed, which means use a lawn mower style filter or none at all, because they weren't designed for them.

I have a new governor spring. I will check my linkages. I don't think the carburetor mainjet is clogged because we took the carb completely apart sanblasted it and put a kit in it. Also we have an in-line filter. THANKS!!

Make sure your linkages are not binding. If you have taken them off to work on the carb you have to make sure you reattach everything in such a way that nothing binds. You put everything back together but don't tighten the screws all the way at the carb, the governor, and the place in the middle where the adjustments are made. With the screws attached but loose, make sure the linkages are adjusted per the instructions, then you tighten the tubes at the carb first then the middle then at the governor. I think that is the correct order, I have a case of CRS so I'm not exactly sure. Its amazing what having the linkages correct will do to a surging governor.

You might have a clogged main jet on the carb which will cause that problem. Or you may not have the govanor adjusted to the carb as it needs to be. Or you might have a wornen govanor or maybe even a bad spring
