Got the old SM and 2MH picker out today and picked a few loads to grind up for my replacement heifers.

Tractor is a 1953 Super M bought new by my dad and uncle in the spring of 1954 and picker was bought new in fall of 1959. Has the original rear tires and warrenty wire seals on the govener cover and spent most of its life under this picker or a 4 row mounted cultivator.

Old SM can bearlly pull a load of corn, run the picker in near 200 Bu corn and pull the hills any more!

Elavating the corn into the crib. My 1953 Super H is on elevator duty and the 686D is lifting the wagon.

Delightful pictures and memorable content. Reminded me of a neighbor that had a mounted picker on an F-30 (I think) when starting it with a crank extension (and poor procedure) he broke his jaw, thumb, and right upper arm. JimN

Scott, thanks for the picks - Picking corn was my favorite time of year, the heat of summer & the bugs were gone - Shorter days, a need to get done before the really bad weather came. I used to do about 20 - 25 acres with a NI 323 & my 574, had 2 gravity bins, used to grind it all winter with an old JD hammermill. Sold some too.

MN Scott, Wow, these are great pictures. Lots of folks should take note on how to improve their photography by these great examples. And - they tell a great story of gathering in the harvest. You were fortunate to have nice even light. You held the camera steady and level. Great job, if you were exhibiting them at a county fair in an ag scene catagory, I would give them a blue. Wonderful you have and USE the tractor your dad purchased. A memory maker. Thanks for sharing your harvesting with us.

I'm no farmer, and I'm only 26, so that's probably why I'm surprised to see that on a M

Will wonders never cease. And to think, all I use mine for is to scrap my driveway. Did I say that? I worked on the farm also. Had a small AC and a big MM with hand clutch. Seems like only fifty years ago. David.

Scott, thanks for the trip back. All you need is a Super Snoot on the radiator and that would be just like the one we used back in the early 70's. I loved hauling in and elevating the corn into the wire cribs although usually there was a wind blowing up your back standing there unloading no matter which way you stood. Great pictures, Harley
