i have the cub running great with the new rings and bearrings, thanks to the help of all you guys helping me out. one last problem, im thinking governor- it runs good as long as you throttle up sloooow and easy and it dies a lot when takeing off from standstil, have to slip the clutch to keep from dying. i know very little about trouble shooting the governor. many thanks to a great forrum. I agree with CNKS, the lean condition is the first priority. If it has adjustment screws for High speed/power, open them up one quarter turn at a time till the problem stops, then add an eight turn richer. If there is black smoke, or carbon buildup lean it a bit. If there are no screws, cleaning the carb carefully and setting the float level will fix it. Good luck. JimN

Sounds to me like your carb is too lean. Or your timing could be off (more likely carb related) Check those before the governor.
