Was the 544 row crop ever actually labeled Farmall by IH? In the attached link it clearly has the International brand, not Farmall. Could it be that early 544s have Farmall and later International?

IH moved the Farmall down by the model number when they went to the '56/'44 series. It stayed there until they dropped Farmall altogether with the "Black Stripe" '66 series in 1976.

Thanks for the replies. I ask since I created the Wikipedia entry for Farmall, and someone else added 544 to the list of models. I didn't have 544 in there since I had thought it was after the Farmall brand was dropped. I'd be curious what you think of the 544 being listed in two rows depending on plow depth. I wouldn't have bothered with that level of detail.

Ours had a sticker with:

544
Farmall

I thought I could find replacements, so we sanded them off when we repainted the tractor... and I still haven't found replacement stickers or the metal emblems yet. Also had the "International" stickers on the white panels just below the hood.

Hi Evan,

Along about the time of the 544s and the accompanying 56 series, IH called everything an International and dropped the Farmall labeling.

Wow! That is a nice picture!

I have a 69' 544 that is clearly labeled Farmall directly about the 544 on the front badge. I believe this was pretty typical. Maybe some of the other guys can shed more light on this, but I have yet to see a row crop 544 that didn't have the 544 label. It's possible the utes only had the International badge I would guess.

IH kept the Farmall name on the model number badge until 1974 when the Farmall name diappeared until a year or so ago when they started putting it on red painted blue garden tractors.

Yep,

Think all the row crops in the 56s had the "Farmall" on the badge only, didn't they?

I am thinking that the '69 856 I owned still said Farmall on the side of the hood and the 856 badge said diesel. My memory may be incorrect.

My 756 has International on the hood side and Diesel on the 756 badge, My 706 has Farmall on the hood side, I just don"t remember what my 544 had I do know it did not have diesel because it was a gas, and it liked it.
