My 5288 is not staying engaged on the low side. It will stay for about 30 sec and then drop at at an idle, If you give it any fuel it will drop out. High side is woking but if you step on the brakes you can get the tractor to stop moving but the engine won't die. I replaced the computer and swamped the pressure switches. Any ideas will be helpful. Thanks

I agree we need some more information. I"ve updated a couple of 50 series transmissions and worked on many more. I had one that seemed like it was slipping when you hit the brake to turn, come to find out the master clutch spool valve had come unscrewed and was causing all sorts of problems that nobody else had encountered. It sounds to me like you are loosing hyd pressure somewhere. Tell us more did it happen all of a sudden or was it gradual, your high and low clutch packs could have been running low on hyd pressure and now they are toast.

The ps,brks,hyds,3pt are all working fine even at an idle. If low Presure wouldn"t the ps and ohers be hard to operate? The high side is working but the tractor will stall and engine stay running. I thought the low side was the default side. Swapping pressure switches did not change anything.

There are several different hydraulic pumps on that tractor, plus a priority valve. Do you have a service manual and are you planning on splitting the tractor yourself? I've seen the high-low clutch packs so worn out from slipping that the clutch facing was completely gone and was running metal on metal. It takes a good set of splitting stands to work on these tractors.

I found the other solniod and switched them, it's the same. At an idle the low side will engage and pull, but at a little incline it stalls and holds the tractor if you rev it up it kicks out and rolls backwards. Any thought on that?

If your problem stays with one side or the other, low or high, it's definately a problem within the tranny. I'm pretty sure you'll have to split it to find a bad low side clutch pack. You may even have to update the tranny when you're in there. I can get aftermarket parts for you if needed.

You mean even in the high side you can stop it with out stalling the engine? When you swapped the pressure switches did change from one side to the other or no difference? There are two soleniods on the left side behind the battery are they each magnetisng one side or the other? You might swap those also Did this start all of the sudden or was it gradual? Are the steering ,brakes, hyd's and three point working ok?There's several dozen things that it could be, low system pressure causing the master clutch to slip or the odd and even clutches slipping. Really need more detailed symptoms

I have 1 solniod on the left behind the batt and is magntized in both high and low. When I swaped the pressure switches nothing changed. It happend all of a sudden. PS, brks, hyds, 3 pt, all work good even at idle

You should have one soleniod engaged for one side and the other for the other side. But,if you can stop the tractor in gear without stalling the engine There's a clutch slipping somewhere and those odd and even won't take much slipping to be fried. may have lost bearing preload on the clutch shaft and losing pressure there, those tractors aren't easily serviced internally without the nessary stands and skates, everything is heavy. Your best bet is to contact your local Case-IH dealer that is familar with 88's.And get them to run some pressure tests And if it's internal it will be expensive!!!!!
