Bought one at a dealer for 500 and found out I should have paid less. It all depends on the condition. A front grill costs almost 600 a hood 100 radiator 250, ETC. Look at the parts you will need to replace and check prices at YT, Joes Farmall parts,, OEM and other sites that sell parts. Lots of them in Red Power Mag. Be prepared to spend enuff to do a good job or it is all wasted.

Prtzman55:
Big difference in the value of an A versus a SUPER A, because the super A has hydraulics. In my opinion, a decent super A might go for $1250 to $1500, whereas a regular A without hydraulics in the same condition might go for $600 to $800. mike

ha ha, I got cross eyed and dizzy trying to read your post, no offense ha ha.

ok, first off anything from a dealership will be more expensive than purchasing from private party.

But 1,700 is way too high. Unless there is a belly mower and front blade included than no way in heck is that worth 1,700.

Like I said in my response the fella asking what a 10-20 is worth. Well if it is NOT RUNNING, to heck with whatever they SAY is the quick fix to fire it up, i.e. "it just needs a battery" or whatever. The short of it is... They are offering a non-running tractor. So pay accordingly. if you cannot fire it up, run the transmission through all gears, test the governor, carburetor, brakes, hydraulics, ensure the electrical is charging, the engine is strong, radiator is not leaking...

Non running = parts machine. If they will not do what it takes to fire up the Farmall A, then offer $500. Besides they made crap loads of money off the trade in, as they make money off the other item the customer purchased. So, do not let them win twice.

Offer $500 if they do not get it running for you.
Running, if all is well, 1,000 is a fair price.

PRTZMAN, I would say that is quite a bit too high. The hood can be replaced with a repo for $100. The front tires a relatively cheap to replace, the backs will cost you a few hundred. I would think that tractor is more in line with $1000 if that. Tough to say without a picture and more details !
