I have a 560D wheatland with a leaky steering cylinder. I ordered the o-rings from IH. How much trouble is this, and what should I look for? Thanks- toolz

Thanks, Sam. I think this one is different than yours- it has a 3-4 foot cylinder along the left side. It's leaking out of the threaded cap, so hopefully the o-rings will do the trick. As far as I can tell, the cap comes off and the rod and pistons slide out. We will soon see! Thanks again- Kevin

I'm not sure how the Wheatland compares to the Farmall row-crop. My Farmall 560D turned out to have a cracked cylinder, and it sounds like that is not uncommon, so better check before putting on new o-rings. Dealer didn't have access to a new sleeve but was willing to sell me a whole bolster. Someone here had one on the shop shelf and put it in the mail the next day.

Mechanically it is all pretty simple - I'm no whiz, but got it done. I had a manual and some help from here (do a search if you haven't yet - quite a few past messages on 560 steering).

I ended up removing the left rail and jacking the tractor up off the front bolster to get at things. Wasn't sure what I was doing so it took a while.

Sam.
